Baobab Blast … Vacation Bible School at High Peak

Vacation Bible School starts Sunday with the Baobab Blast – a week of studying God’s word and having lots of fun for all ages. We have a class for everyone from babies to adults.

SCHEDULE

Sunday – Thursday (all times PM)

Supper – 6:00 – 6:30
Classes including Bible Study, Crafts, Music, Recreation – 6:30 – 8:30
Closing Session and Parents Picking Up Kids – 8:30

Friday Night

We will have a special celebration at 6:30 with a meal and some fun to follow.

Mission Trip to Wisconsin

Please pray for our mission team as they travel to Madison Wisconsin. We will be working at Midvale Baptist Church doing a soccer camp, some construction and also working with another church in the area doing more construction.

We leave at 8:00 am on July 17 and travel first to Cincinnati, OH. The next day we will be in Madison by the end of the day. We will work in the mornings at the camp, sharing Christ. Then in the afternoons we will do light construction work.

On Friday we will return to Cincinnati and to North Carolina on Saturday, July 24th. Come Sunday July 25th to hear about the trip that Sunday night at 6:00 pm.

Here is the July Youth Calendar. It is in PDF (click to download reader) format so you can download it and print it to post on the fridge or somewhere else at home. Also write these on your calendar. If you don’t have a youth to participate, invite a friend, family member or neighbor to bring their kids. And please pray for them, especially the Summer Missions Project with the Good Samaritan Clinic.

Buckets of Hope for Haiti

If you want to help in Haiti, here is a good, tangible way to do so. Of course you can pray. Giving helps too. We have already received a lot of offering money via our regular offerings in addition to our church giving $5,000. But now the Baptist Men of North Carolina have started a new initiative called “Buckets of Hope”. To learn more about it, download the PDF file which gives the list of contents and instructions for packing it.

The essentials are that you buy a 5 gallon bucket with a lid. These can be purchased locally at ACE Hardware or Lowe’s. Then fill it with the items listed in the PDF document. It includes things like rice, sugar, oil, flour, etc.. Then put them in the bucket and take it to a drop off point. In our area, the Catawba River Baptist Association is such a drop off point. You can find it on US HWY 70 between Morganton and Drexel on the south side of the road.

You need to follow the instructions in the PDF file so don’t just get the items and throw them together.

This is a great way to share the love of Christ in a tangible way. For more information you can go to the Baptists on Mission site.
