High Peak Baptist Church
3073 High Peak Rd
Valdese, NC 28690I resign as pastor of High Peak Baptist Church to become the Director of Missions for the Brushy Mountain Baptist Association in Wilkes County, North Carolina. The date of my resignation will become effective after the morning worship service on July 30, 2023.
For the past 16 plus years my family grew up at High Peak Baptist Church. You nurtured us through the joys and struggles of family life, through the death of my mother and my father, through the death of Barb’s grandmother, the graduation of both of our boys, and the marriage of Michael to his wonderful wife Jaymi. We learned a lot about ourselves and our Lord as we served together at High Peak. Thank you so much for all you’ve meant to us.
We now move to a new chapter prayerfully seeking God’s will. I’ve hoped for this opportunity to come my way for many years. As I told the messengers from the churches of Brushy Mountain Baptist Association, I feel like God has been preparing me for this challenge since I was saved at an associational camp at the age of ten and called to ministry while training to participate in associational youth mission trip as a teenager. Add to that the many years of service to the associations where I’ve pastored.
We pray that the transition for High Peak Baptist Church will catapult you to new heights that we did not see in our time here. May God bless this church as you seek God’s man to lead you forward.
We love you and will miss you. Thank you for all your prayers, which we continue to covet.
Dr. Kevin A. Purcell, Pastor
